Chief Executive Officer
Joined Nextern in 2025 as CEO and Board Member, bringing more than two decades of medical device leadership. Previously CEO of Nonin Medical. Earlier executive roles include Cardiovascular Systems, Abbott, and St. Jude Medical.
Thomas Lydon
Chief Financial Officer
Joined Nextern in 2024, leading global finance, accounting, FP&A, human resources, IT, treasury, and tax. Previously CFO of APi Group, guiding growth from $2.2B to $4.4B and NYSE listing. 17 years as Audit Partner at KPMG.
Caroline Byrd
VP of Regulatory, Clinical & Quality
Joined Nextern in 2021, now leading Consulting Services. 20+ years of medical device leadership. Leads regulatory strategy, quality systems, and clinical alignment. Previously Leica Biosystems, Abbott, St. Jude Medical, Boston Scientific.

Chief Operating Officer
Joined Nextern in 2018 as VP of Global Operations, bringing over 20 years of medical device leadership across global manufacturing, supply chain strategy, quality systems, and program execution. Previously Smiths Medical, Integer, Abbott.
Michael Brenzel
Chief Technical Officer
Joined as CTO in 2022, bringing over 20 years of medical device experience across Interventional, Structural Heart, CRM, and Orthopedics. Co-founded Endogenex and Conventus. R&D leadership at St. Jude Medical and Boston Scientific.

Head of Product Development
Joined Nextern in 2015, bringing over 10 years of medical device leadership across operations, engineering, and catheter development. Initially led Production Engineering at the China facility. Strong technical leadership across product development and manufacturing innovation.

Joined Nextern in 2023, bringing over 25 years of medical device leadership experience. Previously VP of Business Development at Resonetics and Director of Business Development at Caribou Technologies. Deep expertise in strategic partnerships and scalable manufacturing solutions.

Brings over 25 years of executive leadership and direct investment experience. Previously served as President and General Manager of Ability Network and held senior executive roles at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota and United Health Group.

Joined Nextern in 2018 as a Project Engineer, bringing over 8 years of medical device experience. Specializes in strategic account growth, portfolio management, and long-term partnerships.
Tim Erdmann
Director of Quality Assurance
Joined Nextern in 2025, bringing over 12 years of medical device experience across design assurance and quality systems. Previously Design Assurance Manager at Surmodics, leading multiple 510k clearances and product launches in vascular interventions.
